Today marked the season’s opening game, and the weather was pouring rain. Could Old Wulfs kick off the season positively with four new signings?
Old Wulfs began strongly, moving the ball around as we had practiced throughout the preseason.
Just 2 minutes in, Joe sent a ball in from the left, and Olalekan found the back of the net, making it 1-0.
In the 5th minute, Dan assisted Olalekan again, who scored once more.
By the 7th minute, Gornal earned a corner; Oscar attempted to clear it, but it went towards goal, and Harry fumbled it into the net, bringing the score to 2-1.
In the 14th minute, Joe took a corner, whipping it into the box, and a Gornal player accidentally put it into his own net, making it 3-1.
In the 17th minute, Old Wulfs failed to clear their lines, allowing Gornal to capitalise, bringing the score to 3-2.
At the 24th minute, Old Wulfs dominated Gornal; Josh received the ball at the edge of the area and passed to Jack, who blasted it home from outside the box.
In the 28th minute, Old Wulfs earned a corner; the ball came over, and Oscar went for a header but was fouled, resulting in a penalty. Olalekan picked up the ball, eager for his hat trick, placed it down, and slotted it home, making it 5-2.
Halftime score: 5-2.
Phil reminded the players not to get complacent and to keep passing the ball around, noting that we were playing well.
In the 55th minute, Jack set up Kyle for a goal, what a performance, making it 6-2.
In the 64th minute, a lapse in concentration allowed Gornal to score, bringing the score to 6-3.
Old Wulfs appeared very comfortable with the ball.
In the 80th minute, Sam crossed the ball for Ethan, who finished it off, making it 7-3.
What a game, lads! You made us all proud and have set the standards now.
