Old Wulfs went into today’s game short-handed, missing four players and with just one substitute available. Despite that, we started brightly, dominating Gornal down the right-hand side and creating several clear-cut chances, but we just couldn’t find the back of the net.
21st minute: Olly slipped Dan through on the right, and after cutting inside, Dan unleashed a stunning strike from outside the box. What a goal! 1–0 to Old Wulfs.
Unfortunately, the lead didn’t last. We went sloppy across the pitch and seemed to forget our shape.
28th minute: Gornal equalised 1–1.
31st minute: A lapse in concentration led to a penalty, which Gornal converted 1–2.
38th minute: Another fine strike from distance saw Gornal extend their lead 1–3.
Half-time: 1–3
At the break, Phil reminded the lads that we weren’t playing our football. “Get the ball down, play our game, and prove who Wulfs are,” he said and the team responded brilliantly.
Second half:
Old Wulfs came out transformed, showing heart and determination all over the pitch.
46th minute: From a corner, Oscar’s header went off target but fell to Olalekan, who smashed it home! 2–3.
Belief began to grow, Gornal were on the back foot.
67th minute: Josh lifted a perfect ball over the top; Harry G raced through, beat the keeper, and slotted home! 3–3.
Just a minute later…
68th minute: Another corner caused chaos in the box, and Olalekan was there again to fire home his second of the game! 4–3 Old Wulfs!
From there, the lads dug deep and held firm until the final whistle.
Full-time: Old Wulfs 4–3 Gornal Town North
We made it hard for ourselves today, but the second-half fightback showed the true spirit of Old Wulfs heart, belief, and determination.
Well done lads! 🤍❤️
