Today we took on Gornal Athletic in a crucial match as we continue our push for the league. Missing four players, we knew it was always going to be a tough test.
The game started with Old Wulfs looking a bit off the pace - passes weren’t sticking and we looked nervous, creating only a few half chances early on.

In the 25th minute, Harry G won us a penalty, and Josh stepped up to calmly slot it home. 0-1.

The rest of the first half turned into a scrappy battle in midfield.

Half-time: 0-1
At the break, Phil had a word with the lads, stressing that Gornal seemed to want it more and that we needed to sharpen up our passing.

The second half couldn’t have started worse, within a minute, Gornal broke through and finished brilliantly. 1-1.

By the 50th minute, it got tougher as they grabbed another. 2-1.

But the response was strong. In the 62nd minute, Sam picked up the ball in the box and smashed it home to level things up at 2-2. 💥

Straight from the restart though, Gornal hit back immediately to make it 3-2.

From there, it was all Old Wulfs - pressure, chances, even a goal ruled out for offside, but we just couldn’t find the net. Pushing for an equaliser late on, we got caught on the break and conceded again in the final minute.

Full-time: 4-2

A tough result today, especially with players missing, but we never do things the easy way. Now it’s simple - win the last two and the league is ours.
