Today, we faced off against the Wordsley Wasps Athletic, hoping to secure a win before the Christmas break. The game got off to a slow start for Old Wulfs, as Wordsley applied pressure with their strong players. Just seven minutes in, a big throw-in from Wordsley led to a goal, putting us down 1-0 due to some lacklustre defending.
From there, it turned into a tough battle in the midfield, making it difficult for Old Wulfs to create any offensive momentum. We went into halftime trailing 1-0. Phil took the opportunity to encourage the team to focus on keeping the ball on the ground and for our wingers to stay wide.
The second half continued to be a test of endurance in the middle of the field, with both teams having their chances. However, in the last ten minutes, Old Wulfs kicked it up a notch. In the 66th minute, Olly took a free kick that found Logan at the back post, who managed to scramble it over the line, leveling the score at 1-1.
In the dying moments of the match, a mistake from the Wordsley keeper allowed Olly to seize the opportunity, and he struck it home to make it 2-1. Great job, team! You showed incredible heart and determination to clinch this victory, and you made us all proud.
