Today, we faced off against Kewford Central, still on the hunt for our first victory. Unfortunately, things didn’t start off in our favour as Kewford scored in the very first minute, leaving us trailing 1-0. Just seven minutes in, Josh seized the ball and took a shot; the keeper managed to save it, but Josh was quick to follow up and slotted it in, levelling the score at 1-1.
From that point, Old Wulfs took control of the game, creating several opportunities but failing to convert. In a surprising turn of events, Kewford scored again in the 25th minute, making it 2-1. Just two minutes later, they found the net once more, extending their lead to 3-1. Despite our efforts to score before halftime, we couldn’t find the back of the net, and we went into the break down 3-1.
Phil encouraged the team, reminding us that we were unlucky to be behind and that the score should have been in our favor. He urged us to adopt a more positive mindset.
In the second half, Old Wulfs came out strong, putting Kewford under pressure. Within three minutes, Olly received the ball just outside the box and fired it home, narrowing the gap to 3-2. After that, we created numerous chances, but the Kewford keeper was on top form, keeping them in the game. In the final five minutes, we had a goal disallowed for offside, but it looked like Kyle was clearly onside!
We ended up losing 3-2, but we played well and were quite unlucky. Old Wulfs, you should hold your heads high; you made us proud today!
