Today, we went up against Cradley Town DC, who had gotten the better of us last time. It was also Jack's debut, which was exciting!
Old Wulfs kicked things off strong; just 3 minutes in, Josh capitalised on a mistake by the Cradley keeper, snatching the ball and smashing it into the net. But in the 6th minute, Cradley equalised, making it 1-1. Things took a turn for the worse just 3 minutes later when Cradley scored again, and Dan had to leave the field with an ankle injury. By the 15th minute, Cradley struck again, pushing the score to 3-1.
After that, Old Wulfs fought hard all over the pitch but struggled to find any scoring chances. In the 28th minute, against the run of play, Cradley scored again, making it 4-1. Just before halftime, Old Wulfs had a goal disallowed due to a questionable handball call on Mikey. So, we went into halftime at 4-1.
Phil had a chat with the team about maintaining their shape and discipline, emphasising the need to apply more pressure on the physical Cradley side. The second half kicked off, but things didn’t start well as Arun and Harvey both went off injured, bringing our total to three for the day.
In just 4 minutes, we conceded again, making it 5-1. After that, we started to find our footing and created some chances, but unfortunately, Cradley scored again in the 47th minute. It didn’t get any better as Old Wulfs lost their shape, conceding again in the 52nd minute, bringing the score to 7-1.
In the 59th minute, Cradley scored once more, making it 8-1. However, in the 60th minute, Wulfs played a beautiful ball through to Josh, who set up Harry G for a nice finish, making it 8-2. In the final minutes, Cradley added another goal, ending the match at 9-2. Not the best day for us, but we’ll hit the training ground hard and wish Dan, Arun, and Harvey a speedy recovery.
