Today, we faced off against Bilbrook East without our top goal scorer Josh and our manager Phil. The game got off to a rocky start when Bilbrook scored within the first five minutes, catching Old Wulfs off guard. But just a minute later, Dan seized the opportunity and equalised, making it 1-1.
In the 8th minute, Old Wulfs earned a penalty, but sadly, we missed the chance to take the lead. However, in the 12th minute, Oscar, playing midfield for the first time, delivered a fantastic ball to Lucas, who blasted it into the net, putting us ahead 2-1.
Bilbrook responded quickly, levelling the score at 2-2 in the 16th minute. Old Wulfs kept pushing and in the 23rd minute, Dan’s corner found Logan, who headed it into the net, making it 3-2. Just before halftime, Bilbrook scored again, bringing the score to 3-3 at the break.
During halftime, Greg addressed the team about the mistakes we were making with throw-ins and the need to press more, as we were giving Bilbrook too much space. The second half began with Old Wulfs coming out strong; in the 36th minute, Dan played a clever ball to Mikey, who slotted it past the goalkeeper, making it 4-3.
The match turned into a back-and-forth contest, but in the 41st minute, Old Wulfs lost focus, allowing Bilbrook to equalise at 4-4. Bilbrook then took the lead in the 51st minute, capitalising on another lapse in our defence to make it 5-4.
In the 56th minute, Harvey made a beautiful pass across the box, and Kyle found the back of the net with an open goal, levelling the score at 5-5. After that, Old Wulfs dominated possession but couldn’t find the winning goal. One of our attempts was disallowed for offside, even though it seemed like Harvey was onside.
It was a tough match, and we were unlucky not to secure the three points today. Let’s regroup and come back stronger next week; you all made us proud!
